Property Description
Camping Toca da Raposa (translated: Den of the Fox) is a beautiful Quinta of over 1 hectare located in the serene environment outside the charming village of Meruge. This hidden gem, a true paradise in Central Portugal, offers a unique opportunity for those who want to continue a thriving business. The campsite once started as a motorcycle campsite, but is now a place for everyone and the campsite attracts people who fall in love with the relaxing and hospitable feeling that prevails.
This region is very beautiful and interesting to visit and explore. It is dominated by the “Serra da Estrela”, the highest mountain range on the Portuguese mainland (1996m). It is unique with its huge granite cliffs and spectacular views, ideal for a day out or to go walking, to swim in one of the picturesque river beaches on a warm sunny day or to visit the many rustic mountain villages. You can also go horse riding in the area, kayak on the Mondego, go karting or rent a bicycle to cycle on an old railway line along the Dão River. The major cities of Coimbra and Viseu are an hour’s drive from the campsite and are definitely worth a visit.
Oliveira do Hospital is the nearest town with all amenities and is located 10 kilometers from the campsite. Here you will find several supermarkets, hair salons, restaurants and pharmacies. For smaller local shops you can go to Meruge and Lagares da Beira, 2.7 km and 3.7 km away respectively.

In addition, the site includes a building for storing tools and machines, a pizza oven, a firewood storage area and 2 cabanas for volunteers.
